2022 ICFP Opening Video
Global Health • Family Planning • Non-Governmental Organization
In 2022, the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs engaged the services of Brevity & Wit to produce an opening video for the 2022 International Conference of Family Planning in Pattaya, Thailand.
Goals
To produce a 3-5 minute video that would feature footage collected by the JHCCP team from individuals working in the field of family planning across the globe. The client sought a dynamic, upbeat video that would integrate motion graphics to reinforce the theme "another world is possible" and align with the conference branding. Our goal was to deliver a high-quality final product that would effectively capture the energy and ethos of the conference, while showcasing the tireless efforts of family planning professionals worldwide.
Process
The video production process began with an initial kickoff meeting between our team and the JHCCP team to establish clear goals, expectations, and deadlines.
Next, we conducted a thorough review of the inspiration video, draft script and proposed theme deck provided by JHCCP and maintained regular communication with the team to ensure that our work aligned with the client's vision.
After presenting the video moodboard to JHCCP for feedback, we created a storyboard based on a shot list and recommended additional video and b-roll clips. We also included illustrations that would be animated based on the theme and tone of the video.
We then proceeded to cut down video clips from the provided archive and curated a selection of music for the JHCCP team to review.
To enhance the visual appeal of the video, we utilized Adobe Illustrator and After Effects to create custom motion graphics.
Finally, we presented our drafts to the Art Director and the JHCCP team, and incorporated their feedback into our final product.
Impact
The completed video was unveiled to an audience of over 5,000 attendees hailing from 120 countries at the opening convening of the 2022 ICFP in Pattaya, Thailand. The video was met with high acclaim from numerous conference attendees, who remarked on its profound impact in setting the tone for the rest of the event.
